      How it works

      1. Add your images. Use the original files; the browser reads them locally.
      2. Keep original dimensions. Choose the output format and a high quality setting for lossy photos.
      3. Download clean copies. Freshly encoded files contain the visible pixels, not the source metadata blocks.

      What this tool does

Digital photos can include camera model, capture time, exposure settings and precise GPS coordinates. This tool renders the visible image to a new canvas and encodes a fresh file. Metadata containers from the original are never copied.

      A practical limitation

This is a privacy cleaner, not a forensic verifier. Some information may also be visible in the pixels themselves, such as a street sign, badge or screen. Review sensitive images before sharing them.

      Frequently asked questions

      Which metadata is removed?

The exported file contains newly encoded pixels rather than the source container, so EXIF camera settings, timestamps, GPS coordinates, comments and embedded thumbnails are not copied.

      Will the visible image change?

Pixel dimensions stay unchanged in Original dimensions mode. Lossy formats may be re-encoded, so choose a high quality setting if visual fidelity matters.

Can I process private photos safely?

The files are decoded and re-encoded inside your browser. Nothing is sent to filetools.co or another conversion server.

Can the cleaned copy keep the original file type?

With “Keep original format”, PNG, JPG and WebP files are written back as themselves. BMP, GIF, SVG and AVIF cannot be encoded by the browser canvas, so those are saved as WebP instead — pick PNG or JPG explicitly if you need a specific type.

      Are my original files modified?

No. The originals stay on disk untouched; the tool produces new copies, downloaded as a single file or as one ZIP when there are several. Keep the originals if you still need their EXIF data.
